Dark Beers Brighten Winter in Astoria

Dark, rich, bold beers go hand and hand with the Astoria climate this time of year. Stout Month returns to the Fort George Brewery + Public House in Astoria, Oregon on February 1st. There will be eight eclectic and coveted stouts within the craft beer community on draught. These specialty stouts are some of the hardest to find in the nation, made in very small batches, due to the expensive ingredients, and extra time that goes into the beer.

The Fort George will tap its own 2009 Bourbon Barrel-Aged Cavatica Stout in addition to Coffee Girl Imperial Stout, an espresso stout.

A beer pairing dinner featuring oysters and stouts takes place February 18th. Reservations are required and can be made by contacting the brewery at (503) 325-PINT, or online at www.fortgeorgebrewery.com.

The following includes the stout lineup at the Fort George throughout February:

Cavatica Stout, Bourbon Barrel-Aged Cavatica Stout, Coffee Girl Imperial Stout - Fort George Brewery + Public House

Russian Imperial Stout - Stone Brewery (San Diego, CA)

The Abyss - Deschutes Brewery (Bend, OR)

Old Growth Imperial Stout - Caldera Brewery (Ashland, OR)

Storm King Stout - Victory Brewery (Downingtown, PA)

Oak Aged Yeti - Great Divide Brewery (Denver, CO)
